I hate the material world sometimes, I hate this world of 'flesh'. I'm listening to this song and eating my food just now, evening breakfast, waffles and eggs and sausage links, it's my first meal of the day, it's 6:59 PM. It's a sunday, I woke up around noon-time.

It's a cute little song, I play it on my phone at the table while I eat. I'm thinking to myself why, why this song? Why do I like this song? Surely it's a cute song, melody and chord progression and resolution and all of that, yes yes, music theory, we know.

But of course it's more than that, it's the soul of it, the soul of all things, everything has a soul you know., objects have personalities. It's carefree, joyful, youthful, tender. It brings comfort, reassurance. I have a few other songs that come to mind when I think about songs like that, The Velvet Underground - After Hours, Frankie Cosmos, so on and so forth. Some people says these things make your heart weak. Khabib Nurmagomedov says that. It's true you know. They do.

The world is a very harsh place. But surely, you know that. Is that why you come here? Is this place an escape for you? Some people have told me that it is. That's sweet to hear. I think it's an escape for me too. Writing is a form of thinking, reading is a form of thinking, thinking is a form of self-actualization, why self actualize anyway? Why become the person you truly are? Well I suppose it has it's benefits. You get to learn the type of person you are. Your strengths, your shortcomings, your flaws. Why improve? To provide for your loved ones, family? To make the world a 'better place'? Surely. And domination. What about domination? What about sex? Oscar Wilde says,

"Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power."

That's true too you know. Don't you hate that it's true?

That's the thing about truth, you know it. You don't think it.

sometimes you don't even consciously know it, but you feel it.

You always feel it, when it's true.

Of course, there's more to this life than 'the world'. That's important to know. But not everyone knows that. That's why the quote is so true, because every domain has it's truth, and the truth of the world is that it's a fleshly dimension, tangible, and corruptible.

Now the people who know better, they know things like 1 John 2:15-17, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever."

and Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

You'll see that they speak of being in the world, and not 'of it', Romans 12:2 specifically, even talks about self-actualization, "renewing your mind". You can learn a great many things from scripture, the writings of old, you'll find they know more than you think. About things you didn't even know to think of, truths you never looked to find.

And that's the thing about truth, you don't learn it, you find it. You hear it, you see it, and it rings true, whether you like it or not.

But of course, you already knew that.
